To apply a Linear Allowance multiplier to a work span

The Linear Allowance multiplier lets you adjust for extra linear material (such as conductor, conduit, pipe) that will likely be required at particular work spans. Bentley OpenUtilities Designer will multiply the material cost of all span materials at the work location by the value of the Linear Allowance multiplier. The Linear Allowance multiplier also recalculates material quantities (normally based on span length) when you run the Bill of Materials report. For more information, see Linear Allowance.

Applying a multiplier to a work location involves selecting the work span in the Design Workspace and editing its Linear Allowance property using the Work Location Properties dialog box. If you have specified a Linear Allowance multiplier for the entire design, that value will be overridden by the new value.

A Linear Allowance multiplier can also be applied to selected assigned features or units rather than to the entire work location. 1. From the list of work locations displayed in the Design Workspace, right-click the work span that requires extra materials and select Properties from the shortcut menu to open the Work Location Properties dialog box.
2. In the Linear Allowance box, type a value and click OK.
